The Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) today announced the reappointment of Ms Rachele Williams as the Consumer and Distributed Energy Resources (CER and DER) representative to the Reliability Panel (Panel).

Ms Williams, currently a Director at the Plenary Group, has over 25 years of experience as a power system engineer and a distinguished track record in Australia’s energy sector.

Her career has focused on distributed energy with particular expertise in emerging technologies and innovation.

Ms Williams’ extensive background includes senior leadership roles at the Energy Security Board and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).

She previously served as the Chair of the Distributed Energy Integration Program, which successfully accelerated the integration of consumer energy resources into the national electricity system.

Reliability Panel Chair Rainer Korte said Ms Williams brings invaluable expertise in distributed energy resources at a critical time for Australia's energy transition.

“Ms Williams’ reappointment provides essential continuity as the Panel undertakes significant work to ensure our electricity system remains reliable and secure for all consumers," Mr Korte said.

“It comes as the Reliability Panel undertakes an intensive work program, including the Review of the System Restart Standard and the recently commenced Reliability Standard and Settings Review. Both are crucial to maintaining system reliability and security as Australia integrates more renewable energy into the national electricity grid.”

The appointment process follows a comprehensive nomination and consultation process as required under the National Electricity Rules.

The AEMC thanks all stakeholders who expressed interest and participated in the process.
