On 10 June 2026 the AEMC received a rule change request from The Hon. Chris Bowen MP, Minister for Climate Change and Energy, as Chair of the Energy and Climate Change Ministerial Council (ECMC) to amend the National ​Energy Retail​ Rules.  

The AEMC has not yet initiated this rule change request. When the AEMC initiates this process, the AEMC will publish a Consultation Paper to facilitate stakeholder consultation on the request.
