About the AEMC
The Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) is the independent rule maker and adviser for the National Electricity Market, national gas markets, and related retail markets. We make energy rules, conduct reviews, and advise the nation’s Energy Ministers on regulatory and market design.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Stakeholder Engagement Adviser to join our in-house Communications and Stakeholder Engagement team to provide stakeholder and communications services to the Commission.
About the Role
The Stakeholder Engagement Adviser will work under the guidance of Government Relations and Stakeholder Engagement Manager. The role will include:
- Support the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies and plans to ensure stakeholder perspectives are integrated into decision-making processes.
- Prepare materials that support engagement activities including, but not limited to, meeting briefs, reports and presentations for the Chair, Commissioners, Chief Executive and leadership team.
- Support engagement through events, briefings, executive reporting, data maintenance, and external communications.
- Keep across major policy developments both internally and externally, reform objectives, and media and public commentary to produce current and relevant stakeholder engagement materials.
- Identify timely opportunities for engagement, working with internal teams, to support outcomes that are in line with the AEMC’s strategic objectives.
- Monitor stakeholder sentiment, proactively address concerns and manage issues as they arise.
- Develop and maintain relationships with market bodies, governments, industry contacts, consumer representatives, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Support the successful delivery of the AEMC’s communications and stakeholder engagement strategy.
About You
You are proactive, organised, and thrive working in a collaborative environment.
You are passionate about delivering high-quality communications and stakeholder engagement advice and enjoy working on a wide range of challenging projects.
To be successful, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience developing and implementing stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Experience developing communications materials that support stakeholder engagement activities.
- Highly developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills to build effective partnerships with diverse audiences.
- The ability to work autonomously, being accountable for managing time and workload to meet deadlines.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Applicants must have permanent working rights in Australia (either permanent residency or Australian citizenship).
- Energy sector experience is not required, but an understanding of issues related to the sector would be favourable.
