On Tuesday 18 August, from 9.00 am – 4.00 pm (AEDT) the AEMC will host an fully hybrid public forum on the Electricity Network Regulation Review (ENRR). The forum can be attended both in-person and online.  

The forum was originally planned as an in-person event with an online option. However, following strong interest in attending online, the AEMC has taken steps to enable hybrid participation (in person and online) in the workshop components of the public forum. Online participants will now be able to take part in all elements of the forum, including in the interactive sessions, presentations and Q&A.

The in-person event will take place at the Swissôtel Sydney, 68 Market Street Sydney, with opening remarks commencing at 9.30 am.  

Further details, including practical information on attending in person or joining online, will be made available for registered attendees.  

The Electricity Network Regulation Review is considering the important role of electricity network regulation in providing consumers with a low cost, reliable supply of electricity as the NEM transitions to a net-zero system.

During, the forum, the AEMC will present the content of the consultation papers for Package 1 and Package 2, focusing on the issues and problem statements under each package, with the aim to gain input from stakeholders to help shape policy development.  

The forum will include presentations, Q&A sessions and facilitated interactive sessions. A virtual attendance option will be available for stakeholders who are unable to attend in person. 

There will be two sessions on the day:

• The morning session will discuss Package 1. This package examines what services should be regulated and, as such, how costs should be allocated to different electricity end-users. The consultation paper was published on 25 June . More information is available at ENRR Package 1.
• The afternoon session will discuss Package 2. This package examines how the framework can support efficient operations and expenditure. A consultation paper is expected to be published in mid-August.  More information is available at ENRR Package 2.
