The Allgas gas distribution network is owned by Allgas Energy Pty Ltd (Allgas Energy) and operated by the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) . Allgas Energy is owned by Stonepeak, a leading global alternative investment firm specialising in infrastructure and real assets.

The previous owner of the Allgas gas distribution system was GDI (EII) Pty Ltd (GDI), and its former service provider was APT Allgas Energy Pty Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the APA Group. In March 2026, GDI, a joint venture owned by Marubeni Corporation (40%), SAS Trustee Corporation (40%) and the APA Group (20%) sold the Allgas distribution system to Stonepeak, with operatorship transitioning to AGIG. 

The Allgas gas distribution network covers part of the Brisbane area (south of the Brisbane River) and the Gold Coast (extending into northern NSW). It also covers the inland city of Toowoomba and the town of Oakey. The distribution system consists of approximately 3,900 km of pipeline delivering gas to around 120,000 customers (households and business).

The Allgas gas distribution network was initially subject to regulation as a covered pipeline under the Gas Code by the QCA. It was then subject to full regulation by the AER under the NGR. 

The Allgas gas distribution network was initially commissioned in approximately 1870.

In April 2015, the NCC made a decision on the form of regulation for the Allgas gas distribution network. The Allgas gas distribution network is now subject to light regulation by the AER under the NGR. The AER no longer approves an access arrangement for the Allgas gas distribution network.
