ACT/NSW: Canberra System

ACT/NSW: Canberra System

Evoenergy owns and operates the ACT, Queanbeyan - Bungendore and Nowra gas distribution networks. This is a partnership between the ACT Government-owned Icon Water Limited (Actew Corporation) and Jemena Networks (ACT) Pty Ltd. The pipeline was commissioned 21 December 1981.

The ACT and Queanbeyan - Bungendore networks consist of approximately 4 808km of pipeline, delivering 166TJ/day to 151 500 customers. Gas is transported to the ACT distribution system from the Cooper Basin in SA and Queensland fields through the Moomba to Sydney Pipeline (offtake at Dalton, NSW) and from Longford (Victoria) through the Eastern Gas Pipeline (offtake at Hoskinstown, NSW).

The ACT distribution system was initially subject to regulation as a covered pipeline under the Gas Code by the ICRC until the commencement of the National Gas Law on 1 July 2008. It is now subject to full regulation by the AER under the NGR.

The ACT distribution system is currently a scheme pipeline.
