About the Organisation
The Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) is Australia's independent rule maker and adviser for the National Electricity Market, natural gas markets and related retail markets. It facilitates energy rule changes, carries out reviews and provides the nation’s Energy Ministers with advice on the design of regulatory and energy market arrangements.
Our vision is for a consumer-focused net zero energy system. We are working to develop the market settings that will help the people of Australia benefit from lowest-cost, low emissions, reliable, secure and safe power.
About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Executive General Manager, Networks & Technical, the primary objective for this role is to provide and facilitate expert technical advice and recommendations to the Commission, Chief Executive and project teams on current and emerging engineering issues affecting transitioning energy markets to inform practical decisions and the delivery of high-quality advice and recommendations to key stakeholders.
The role will also provide thought leadership on current developments and emerging trends in the field of power system engineering to help the AEMC establish market and regulatory arrangements that work for the future power system.
Additionally, the role will be responsible for leading the development of internal technical/power system engineering capabilities to enhance the rigour and consistency of technical reasoning and analysis as a critical component of the AEMC’s decision-making and delivery.
