The Bonaparte Gas Pipeline (BGP) and Wadeye Lateral are transmission pipelines which operates across the Northern Territory. The lateral connects to the Bonaparte Gas Pipeline and is used to supply the Wadeye Power Station. The pipelines are owned by Energy Infrastructure Investments (EII) and is operated by the APA Group. The APA Group has a 19.9 per cent interest in Energy Infrastructure Investments, while Marubini holds 49.9 per cent interest and Osaka Gas holds 30.2 per cent interest.
The BGP is 287 km in length and 300 mm in width, and has a capacity of 80 TJ/day. It transports gas from Wadeye to the Amadeus Gas Pipeline at Ban Ban Springs in the NT. The gas is sourced from the offshore Blacktip gas field in the Bonaparte basin.
The BGP and Wadeye Lateral are currently a non-scheme pipelines, and is subject to the access regime for non-scheme pipelines under Chapter 6A of the NGL and Part 23 of the NGR. On 3 January 2018, the AER granted a 5 year category 2 exemption under Part 23 of the NGR for BGP and Wadeye Lateral.
