The National Electricity Rules
The National Electricity Rules govern the operation of the National Electricity Market. The Rules have the force of law, and are made under the National Electricity Law. Copies of the National Electricity Rules are available for inspection at the AEMC's office in Sydney. The National Electricity Law can be found at the South Australian Legislation website.
The current consolidated version of the Rules is Version 21, incorporating the National Electricity Amendment (Process for Region Change) Rule 2007 No.11; Schedule 2 of the National Electricity (Economic Regulation of Distribution Services) Amendment Rules 2007; the National Electricity Amendment (Economic Regulation of Transmission Services Undertaken by Distributors) Rule 2008 No. 3; the National Electricity Amendment (WACC, alignment of reviews) Rule 2008 No. 4; the National Electricity Amendment (WACC, technical drafting issues) Rule 2008 No. 5; and the National Electricity Amendment (NEM Reliability Settings: Information, Safety Net and Directions) Rule 2008 No. 6.
All these Rules commenced operation on 1 July 2008.
