National Electricity Rules: Current Rules

The National Electricity Rules

The National Electricity Rules govern the operation of the National Electricity Market. The Rules have the force of law, and are made under the National Electricity Law. Copies of the National Electricity Rules are available for inspection at the AEMC's office in Sydney. The National Electricity Law can be found at  the South Australian Legislation website.

The current consolidated version of the Rules is Version 38, incorporating the following Rules made by the Commission:

• the National Electricity Amendment (Timing for spot price reporting) Rule 2010 No. 9, which commenced operation on 22 July 2010;
• the National Electricity Amendment (Publication of a Carbon Dioxide Equivalent Intensity Index for the National Electricity Market) Rule 2010 No. 8 which commenced operation on 22 July 2010;
• the National Electricity Amendment (SA Jurisdictional Derogation (Connections Charging)) Rule 2010 No. 3 which commenced operation on 1 July 2010; 
• the National Electricity Amendment (Negative Inter-regional Settlements Residue Amounts) Rule 2009 No. 17 which commenced operation on 1 July 2010; and
• the National Electricity Amendment (Payments under Feed-in Schemes and Climate Change Funds) Rule 2010 No. 7 which commenced operation on 1 July 2010.
